Many of us have heard the oft repeated phrase when referring to opening a business--it's location, location, location.
While this is true in many respects, it is also true when it comes to the all-important online presence in today's internet savvy world.
When you are thinking of starting a small business your website is a valuable tool in attracting customers to your store or operation.
If you already have, or are contemplating an online business the traditional rules still apply--it's location, location, location because people have to be able to find you easily.
Here's some tips on how to create "location" online.
Physical locations are easy to calculate when it comes to settling on a store location.
Busy street corners, popular areas of town and heavily trafficked car patterns are some key factors.
Your online presence has to meet some of these same requirements.
For instance, did you know that you can advertise for free on social media sites such as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and MySpace and enter into the highly trafficked internet highway so that people will know you exist online? All you have to do is to spend some time learning how to drive traffic to your site using social networking marketing techniques and you will be on your way.
To exist online is one thing, however.
To be found is something else.
In order for people to find you, you have to use popular keywords on your web page that people use when searching for the type of goods or items that you are selling.
By using some easy-to-learn keyword tools your chances of ranking high on Google pages is much greater, and thus you can achieve the same kind of "location" in the virtual world that is so coveted when setting up shop in the real one.
If you spend some time learning how to use social media to your advantage your results will be well worth the effort.
