    • 1). List the specific purpose, main idea, and organization. The beginning of your outline, this will help you focus your speech. It is also a requirement for most communication classes.

    • 2). Create a header labeled "introduction." In this subhead, you'll need sub-points of attention getter, credibility, topic, and body preview, according to Amarillo College. On your outline, fill in each of these subheads with the information you plan to use in your speech.

    • 3). Create body subheads. Make a list of the characteristics of the person that you want to emphasize. Each of these areas should be a subhead. Under these subheads, list specific examples to support your claims.

    • 4). Conclude. The final heading in your outline should be the conclusion. According to Amarillo College, your conclusion should reinforce the main idea, while also making an impact on your audience.
