How to Make a Three Tier Candle Centerpiece

    • 1). Make multi-level candle holders. Take three pieces of 3-by-3 or 4-by-4 of different lengths and drill a taper candle-sized hole in one end. Stain the wood or paint it to match your holiday linens and tableware or to look like Christmas presents.

    • 2). Insert taper candles (in holiday colors) in each holder. Affix small festive bows to the base of the candles. Add some greenery (such as pine branches, sprigs of holly or pine cones) and/or some leftover tree ornaments at the bottom and light the candles.

    • 3). Fancy up the basics. If you want something more elegant and long-lasting than taper candles, take the three pieces of 3-by-3 or 4-by-4 and pound a nail into the center of one end of each. Cut off the head of the nail with heavy duty wire cutters. Stick a pillar candle onto the nail, and decorate as above.

    • 4). Explore the truly elegant. Nothing says elegant like candlelight reflecting off glass or crystal. Take three small cut crystal or plain glass plates or saucers and set three pillar candles of different heights, one on each. Decorate around the plates as above, or leave plain for a truly elegant look. Or, arrange all three candles onto one larger plate.
