    • 1). Spread out 1 2/3 yard of felt, 60 inches in width on a flat work surface. Fold the piece of felt in half crosswise. Fold the piece of felt in half a second time in the opposite direction.

    • 2). Place the top end of a yardstick at the tip of the felt's folded corner. Position the yardstick 1 inch from the right edge of the folded fabric. Draw a dash at the 3-inch mark and at the 30-inch mark. Rotate the yardstick 3 inches to the left, keeping the top of the yardstick at the tip of the folded corner. Draw a dash again at the 3-inch mark and the 30-inch mark. Continue this process across the remaining surface of the folded felt.

    • 3). Cut along the dashes at the 3-inch mark to create a center hole for your tree skirt. Cut along the dashes at the 30-inch mark to round the edges of your tree skirt. Discard the cut-out portions of felt.

    • 4). Unfold the felt circle and lay it out flat on your work surface. Cut a straight line from the outer edge of the felt to the center hole.

    • 5). Apply a short line of fabric glue 2 to 3 inches inward from the outer edge of the felt, beginning at the cut edge. Place the end of a length of ribbon trim or ric rac onto the beginning of the line of glue. String the ribbon or ric rac out on top of the line of glue, pressing down to secure it to the felt. Continue to glue the trim around the remaining edge of the tree skirt. Repeat this process around the center hole.

    • 6). Use fabric glue to attach felt appliques in holiday shapes around the center of the tree skirt. Glue sequins, rhinestones or buttons onto the surface of the felt to add further embellishment. Let the glue dry completely before moving your tree skirt.
