    Experience

    • Employers want to know what related experience you will be able to bring to the company. It is highly important to emphasize related experience on your resume. Make sure you are prepared to reference anecdotes and to answer questions about how your experience will benefit the company. Related experience not only shows the employer you have positively contributed to another company or organization, but it also shows you know how to apply your knowledge to different work situations.

    Leadership

    • Leadership is often an attribute that either increases or decreases the applicant's likelihood of attaining the prospective position. On your resume, you should highlight leadership positions that you have held at work and in community organizations. Leadership demonstrates that you are able to lead your peers when necessary. Be prepared to offer anecdotes about your leadership experiences in interviews. Make sure you demonstrate tangible results of your leadership. For example, if a company obtained a 3-percent increase in revenues while you were general manager, then be prepared to use that language to describe your effectiveness as a leader.

    Interpersonal Communication

    • Interpersonal communication skills are necessary for all professionals. These skills are those which you use everyday when communicating with other co-workers, customers and other professionals. Interpersonal communication skills can be demonstrated on a resume, but the applicant must impress the employer in the interview. Professional language and engaging body language are the two main parts of interpersonal communication. You should engage the employer by mimicking his posture and position and using appropriate language for the field of work.

    Professionalism

    • Professionalism is the quality that encompasses leadership, interpersonal communication and all other attributes that make potential employees stand out to employers. Professionalism includes maintaining a professional appearance, which encompasses clothing, jewelry, piercings, hair and makeup. The employer wants to know the employees will always conduct themselves in a professional, appropriate manner inside and outside the work environment. Your professionalism should be exhibited in recommendations submitted by your references, resume and cover letter, as well as in the interview.
