Ideas & How-Tos for Scrapbooking Layouts
- Keep scrapbook layouts simple to highlight your photographs.bike scrapbook image by robert mobley from Fotolia.com
Create a memorable scrapbook creation that brings your photos to life. You can buy 12-by-12 albums or 8-by-8 books depending on your preferences. Feature one or more photos on each page, but try not to place more than three photos on a page unless they are really small pictures. Too many large photos create clutter and leave no room for embellishments such as charms or stickers. - Pansies make excellent pressed flowers.purple pansies image by Adam Fuller from Fotolia.com
Pressed flowers are decorative embellishments that can make a page really pop out. Choose pressed flowers that match the overall theme and photos on the page, such as purple and yellow pansies for a spring theme. You can find pressed flowers at the craft store or make them yourself by placing the flowers between wax paper and heavy items such as books.
Choose light plain colored card stock as the background of your page. Create a pressed flower border around each individual picture or create a border around the page itself. Glue pressed flowers on the four corners of each picture or just scatter the flowers randomly on open areas of the card stock outside of the photos. - A border is a simple way to dress up a page, and you can create a border out of just about anything. Choose embellishments such as flowers, charms or fake pearls for your border. Select a border that matches the theme of the pictures chosen. Elegant photos of your wedding could be complemented by pearls, or sunflower stickers could highlight summer photos.
- Large centerpiece embellishments work well for some pages. You can place a large flower in the center of the page, or feature other items such as lock of your baby's hair in a decorated envelope. Place your pictures around the centerpiece decoration or in a row directly underneath. If you decide to place your photos on the bottom, add other embellishments or title at the top of the page that describes your pictures. Use chip board letters to write a title such as "Sisters," "Summer Fun" or another saying that describes the photos. Chip board letters are made of cardboard and can be purchased at craft or scrapbook supply stores.
