    • 1). Gather documents that prove who you are, that you have worked in Florida for two of the past three fiscal quarters and the name of your employer. These documents include your driver's license, pay stubs, W-2s and income tax returns.

    • 2). Visit the DeLand One-Stop Career Center at 1382 South Woodland Blvd., bringing with you the documents gathered in Step 1, and speak to a representative at one of the counters. The One-Stop Career Center in DeLand is one of the state facilities charged with assisting Florida residents with unemployment filings and helping them find new jobs.

    • 3). Fill out an application to receive unemployment compensation by providing information like your name, address, phone number, whether you would like to receive your unemployment payments via checks mailed to your home or directly deposited into your bank account, the names of your recent employers, the dates you most recently worked, the reason you no longer are working and the name and phone number of your former supervisor. Sign the bottom of the application and hand the form along with your tax documents, pay stubs and driver's license to the DeLand One-Stop Career Center representative.

    • 4). Receive the approval for your unemployment compensation payments via a letter in the mail. Fill out a weekly postcard mailed each week to your home by answering questions about whether you worked during the past week, whether you applied for at least two jobs during the past week and whether you earned any money. Sign the postcard, place a stamp on the card and mail it. You will receive your first payment approximately one week later.
