How to Remove a 1996 Ford F-150 Dashboard
- 1). Turn off the F-150's engine. Remove the two screws securing the driver's-side kick panel using a Phillips screwdriver. Insert a slotted screwdriver in the side of panel and pry up to remove it.
- 2). Unfasten the screws at the instrument panel trim's corners with the Phillips screwdriver. There is one on each side. Again, insert the slotted screwdriver in the space between the panel and the vehicle and pry up to remove it.
- 3). Disconnect the electrical connector from the instrument panel and use your hands to lift off the plastic trim surrounding the entire dashboard. The trim is held in place by clips that can be disengaged by hand. Slowly go around the edge of the trim so as to not damage the plastic.
- 4). Remove the center faceplate of the dashboard by removing four screws, one on each corner. Pull the faceplate off. Unfasten the screws from the radio and the A/C control unit with the Phillips screwdriver, two on each device. Disconnect their respective electrical connectors and remove them from the vehicle.
- 5). Open the cover of the glove compartment, press out on its sides to disengage it and slowly slide it out. Remove the two pushpins at the bottom edge of the middle cover and slowly lift it out of the vehicle.
