- 1). Check the Java website (see Resources) to make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements to install and run the software, and that you are downloading the latest official version of it.
- 2). Check your firewall's security settings. If they're set too high, it could interfere with the download process. Use the standard setting or modify the settings to allow downloads from the Java website.
- 3). Refer to the Java website for details of any error codes. It can give you information on the cause of error codes and possible solutions.
