How to Choose a Theme for a Holiday Party
- 1). Figure out how much you can spend. Once you figure out what you have available for a party budget, you'll be able to have a much better idea of what themes you can easily afford for your holiday party.
- 2). Decide where to hold the party. You'll find that the site where you hold the party can affect the holiday party theme that you choose. If you're having the party at your home, you may not be able to go with an elaborate theme because of space confinements. Also, you have to consider the decor of your party site when considering the theme to make sure your decorations for the theme don't totally clash with the colors of the decor.
- 3). Determine how formal you want the event to be, formal or casual. For example, a formal party may center around an elegant Christmas theme, while an informal one may be something more fun and informal, like a Santa's elves theme or a reindeer theme.
- 4). Develop a guest list and determine what you're really celebrating. Some people on your list may be offended by certain religious themes. Also, if you are having a party that is being attended by kids, consider a theme that's more fun, such as the Grinch or "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer." If you are celebrating general holidays that occur during this time, consider a general holiday theme. However, if you are celebrating the actual Christmas holiday and there are no non-religious objectors on the guest list, a Christmas theme such as a Nativity theme may be a wonderful choice.
