How to Use Toys As Drawer Pulls
- 1). Measure the drawer's thickness. Add half an inch to this measurement to account for a spacer bead that will be attached to the drawer's exterior.
- 2). Measure the thickness of the toy and add the measurement to those of the drawer and spacer bead. This amount represents the length of the screw needed to hold the toy securely onto the drawer. For example, if the drawer measures 1 inch thick, the spacer bead half an inch thick and the toy 2 inches thick, the total length of the screw required is 3-1/2 inches.
- 3). Pre-drill a hole into the toy how you want it to hang on the drawer. Use a smaller drill bit than that for your screws. Pre-drilled holes will keep the toy from cracking when inserting a screw.
- 4). Drill through the drawer where you want the toy pull. If a hole exists, insert the screw and washer into the back of the drawer as far as possible, lining up the spacer bead and toy.
- 5). Turn the screw into place with a drill or screwdriver. Be careful not to drive the screw through the toy. Repeat with the remaining drawers.
