Troubleshooting the Door Lock on a GE Profile Oven
- 1). Clean off the door frame, avoiding the door gasket, before selecting the “Self Clean” option. Debris on the frame might keep the door from closing all the way or the door switch from activating completely.
- 2). Push the door latch on manual latching models completely to the right for the door to lock before the oven can self-clean. If the latch is not engaged fully, the door will not lock and the self-clean process will not work.
- 3). Wait for the door to lock automatically on electronic oven models once you press “Self Clean,” select a time, and press “Start.” It may take up to 30 minutes for the “Lock” icon to illuminate.
- 4). Press or select “Cancel” or “Stop” if the door was locked accidentally with a self-clean feature. Let the oven cool. Unlatch the oven door manually, or wait for the “Lock” light to go out before opening the door. Never force the door open.
- 5). Allow 60 to 90 minutes to pass after a self-clean cycle before trying to open the oven door. The oven must cool appropriately before the door will unlatch or unlock.
- 6). Disconnect power or turn off the circuit breaker if the door remains locked even after the oven is cool or if the self-clean feature was not selected. Restore power and attempt to open the door.
- 7). Select a new self-clean cycle if there is no food in the oven and the door remains locked. Choose a one- or two-hour cleaning cycle and select “Start.” Wait 30 minutes, then cancel the self-clean function. Give the oven time to cool, then open or unlatch the door.
