What Is a VNC Repeater?
- VNC allows one computer on the network to have full access to and control of another, remote computer on the network. The computer being accessed is called the "server," while the computer accessing the remote computer is called the "viewer."
- The VNC repeater software is installed on one of the computers on a VNC network of more than two computers. All of the other computers on the network are then routed through this one "repeater" computer.
- A VNC repeater simplifies your network and is especially helpful if you have a firewall. Your viewer computer need only allow firewall access to the computer running the VNC repeater; you will thus have access to the rest of the network run through the repeater.
