How to Recycle Two Liter Plastic Bottles
- 1). Rinse the bottles with water and place them in a storage cupboard or container. A large garbage can in the garage may be ideal because it is out of the way and in an area where fresh air enters as you open and close the door. Also in a garage or utility closet you can also use a peg board with reusable bags that you can fill with the empty bottles. Plastic bins that stack are a good way to organize your recycling as well because you can wash them out if they get sticky.
- 2). Place the two liter bottles in your curbside recycling bin or take them to your local recycling center. Here the plastic bottles are melted down and sold to companies who make items with recycled plastic.
- 3). Donate the plastic bottles to a local school or daycare. Often children create art and science projects with two liter plastic bottles and need an abundance of them.
- 4). Create a piggy bank with a plastic two liter bottle. Put the cap on and slice a small opening in the top neck of the bottle with a knife. Store the change there for safe keeping.
- 5). Cut off the bottom of the bottle to create large ice chunks for in a cooler. This will keep items cool for a long period of time and melt less quickly than small pieces of ice. You can also use the bottom of the bottle as a paint cup for small children or art projects.
- 6). Use an empty two liter soda bottle to hold earth-friendly, homemade cleaners. Mix the supplies and store in these containers. You can also cut off the bottom of the bottles and stick an aqua spike on the end. Push the bottle into the ground and fill with water to keep the ground moist for plants. This is perfect for forgetful arborists or people going on vacation.
