Why You Should Vote

As election day comes and goes, it's worth reinforcing the point that it's important that you get out and vote.
Mid-term elections typically have a much lower turnout than elections during presidential campaigns, but that doesn't mean you should stay home too.
There are tons of reasons why you should get out and vote, and this is just a sampling of reasons.
First, even in states that typically vote consistently one way or another, you are always voting for more candidates than just the candidates at the national level.
As such, when dealing with people who will be put into the state offices, your vote will have a much bigger impact, and your district is much more likely to swing between terms.
These candidates have a much bigger role in guiding state policy over the next few years so paying attention in these elections and voting for the candidates that best represent your views is even more important in these races.
Another key reason to vote, is even when you don't know much about the candidates in your election, there are often a number of ballot questions that are worth providing your input on.
These items can cover a wide range of topics from immigration to term limits to even the legalization of marijuana.
As a result, even if you're not well read on the candidates, it can be important to give your opinion on these types of matters as they can directly affect you.
Overall, it's important to exercise your right to vote.
Even if you don't feel fully informed on all of the issues or candidates, it's worth going out and voting on the issues that you do feel informed about.
