How to Make No-Sew Wallhangings
- 1
Treasure bin of fabrics
Gather fabric pieces in contrasting colors and textures based on the theme of your wall hanging (gardening, travel, pets, children, etc.). Look in your own bin of sewing leftovers, as well as in decorator stores (in expired sample books), upholstery shops (leftover bins) and thrift stores. - 2). Lay the rectangular muslin flat on the work table. At one end (the top of the wall hanging) fold the muslin over 1-1/2 inches and iron to make a crease. Glue the edge to he muslin so that there is an opening to slip the wooden dowel through. Fold the remaining three edges of the muslin 1/2 inch and iron to make a crease. Glue these edges to the muslin. Flip the muslin over and iron flat to create the basic "canvas."

Cutting and designing
With a pencil, roughly draw a design on your muslin. Then cut contrasting fabric pieces with scissors and fill in your design to completely cover the muslin. Arrange the pieces to slightly overlap each other. Rearrange them as desired. - 4
Basket-and-fruit design
When you're satisfied with your layout, glue the fabric pieces to the muslin or on top of other fabrics in the design. Be generous with the glue; some fabric pieces may be thicker than others. When you've completed this step, iron the entire wall hanging to help secure the fabric and do a little flattening. - 5). Glue the wooden beads to each end of the dowel and attach the cord for hanging. With a hot glue gun, add embellishments--such as fabric flowers, buttons and beads--for more interest.
