    • 1). Secure an 89 type punchdown block mounting bracket to a plywood backboard using two wood screws. Use a level to adjust the position of the bracket to ensure a neat installation.

    • 2). Route telephone wires inside the bracket from either the top or bottom, then feed out of the bracket via openings on either the right or left side of the bracket.

    • 3). Snap the 66 type punchdown block onto the 89 type mounting bracket and ensure that it is set securely into place. Check for wires that might have been pinched or damaged during installation of the block.

    • 4). Using a pair of wire cutters, strip off approximately 1 to 2 inches of cable jacket to expose individual telephone wires. Remove any remaining insulation and separate the individual wires.

    • 5). Route the individual wires through the plastic row separators on the 66 type block and loop through the desired connection clip.

    • 6). Using a 66 type punchdown or impact tool, terminate each wire onto the selected clip. Remove any loose or stray wire from the block.

    • 7). Label terminated telephone wires and proceed to the next set of wires.
