    Skirts

    • There are many styles of skirts that are extremely easy to make. Drawstring skirts, for example, require only the most basic sewing know-how and can be very satisfactory to make. Skirts can be made of stretchy jersey, which is far easier to fit than non-stretchy fabric. Skirts can have an elasticized waistband and no-sew hem tape (iron-on) to simplify them further.

    Bags

    • Tote bags are quickly made and can be easily customized to reflect any girl's personality or hobbies. Purses can be made of many different kinds of material, and at their simplest are just one piece of folded fabric with a strap. One fun purse design is made of the top of an old pair of blue jeans, sewn shut at the bottom, with fabric from the legs used to make a strap.

    Pillows

    • Pillows are an easy way to personalize a room. Throw pillows can go anywhere, full-sized pillows can go on a bed, and larger pillows can be sewn as floor cushions to turn a corner of a room into a seating area. Pillows can be sewn from scratch with fiber fill, plain throw pillows can be purchased from craft stores and covered, or any pillow can be covered with a stylized pillowcase.

    T-Shirt Recycling

    • T-shirts are commonly given at every turn in a kid's life, and by the time she's a teenager, a girl may have more T-shirts than she knows what to do with. There are many ways to recycle them into new and beautiful projects: T-shirts can become quilts, scarves, locker organizer pockets, cell phone cases and skirts. Oversized T-shirts can also be refashioned into better-fitting T-shirts and novelty-style shirts.
