The Best Way to Clean a Bowling Ball
- There are many specially designed cleaners for bowling balls. You should know the type of coverstock that is on your ball and purchase a cleaning product that is specifically designed for it. Most cleaning products are available in spray bottles. Spray the ball completely to begin.
- You do not want to use a cloth that is going to shed particles back onto your ball. Use an oil-free terry towel. After spraying the ball with cleaner, wipe in small circles until the cleaner is dry. Repeat this process two or three times. It is best to have a different cloth for each round of cleaning. The cloths will become oily quickly and you do not want to introduce that oil back to the ball.
- A thorough cleaning will restore the finish to your ball and you should regain the reactive properties. In between full cleanings, it is recommended that you wipe the excess oil off of the ball after each shot. Simply keep a towel handy to wipe the ball before each throw.
