    • 1). Shut down your laptop. Unplug the AC power adapter, and any external devices from the laptop. Close the display panel, and place the laptop face down with the front edge facing toward you. Slide the two battery release buttons towards the middle of the laptop. Remove the battery pack from its compartment along the top edge of the laptop's bottom side.

    • 2). Remove the memory compartment cover, and its single retention Phillips-head screw from the center of the laptop. Then remove all remaining Phillips-head screws from the laptop's bottom side. Flip the laptop over, and pull open the display panel as far as possible.

    • 3). Use a small, flat-head screwdriver to disengage the five locking latches along the keyboard's bottom row of keys. Grasp the bottom edge of the keyboard, and tilt it upward until the bottom side of the keyboard is visible. Unplug the keyboard cable from the motherboard. Remove the keyboard from the laptop.

    • 4). Remove all remaining Phillips-head screws fastening the laptop's top cover to the laptop's base assembly. Carefully lift the entire top cover from the laptop slightly. Disconnect the small ribbon cable extending from the touchpad device to the motherboard. Then remove the top cover from the laptop completely. Removing the top cover reveals the top side of the motherboard.

    • 5). Remove the two Phillips-head screws fastening the hard drive to the lower left corner of the motherboard. Slide the hard drive to the left to disconnect it from the motherboard connectors. Remove the old hard drive from the laptop, and set it aside.

    • 6). Repeat this procedure in reverse to install the replacement hard drive, and reassemble your laptop.
