- 1). Install Acronis True Image Home 2011. This commercial program lets you back up disk partitions manually or according to a daily, weekly or monthly schedule. Click "Disk and Partition Backup." Enable the check box next to the partition you want to back up. Click "Browse" to select a destination for the partition image. Click "Back up now" if you want to manually back up the partition or click "Schedule" if you want to configure an automated back-up schedule. Press the "Recover" button next to the partition image you want to restore under "My Backups." A free trial of the most recent version of Acronis True Image Home is available on the Acronis website.
- 2). Download EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition. This freeware partition imaging software includes everything you need to back up and restore data partitions. EASEUS also offers a commercial version that handles operating system partitions. Click "Disk & Partition Copy Wizard" to begin backing up a partition. Click the partition you want to copy, followed by "Partitions" then "Copy." Select a location for the partition image. Click "Finish" to begin copying the partition. Open the "Disk & Partition Copy Wizard" to restore a partition. Click the partition you want to restore, followed by "Partitions" then "Copy." Select the location where you want the image restored, then click "Finish."
- 3). Install Partition Manager Personal. This commercial program includes a suite of tools for copying, editing, merging, resizing and restoring partitions. Click "Backup and Rescue" then "Backup." Enable the check box next to the partition you want to back up in the "Object to Back up" window. Select where you want the partition copied in the "Backup Destination" window. Enter a name for the back-up image, then click "Start" to begin backing up the partition. Click "Restore Wizard" to restore a back-up image. Select the image in the "Object to Restore" window. Enter the location where you want the image restored in the "Restore Destination" window. Click "Start" to begin restoring the image.
