Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Skylar. If you'd like to reset your password on an Apple computer, let me quickly show you how it's done. I'm actually going to use a feature called Spotlight in order to find system preferences. Spotlight is right up here, click on the magnifying glass or he default hot key is command space. I'm going to type in system, I didn't have to, I just typed in sys and it was right at the top and press return. That can be used to launch any application, it's really useful. So here under system preferences in the left I see users and groups. I'm going to click on that, now here's my account. Right here is change password so if I click that I have to type in the old password and then type in the new password and verify the new password. You can also have a password hint which is a really good idea, not in case necessarily you forget your password but say something bad happens to you and a family member really has to access your computer. If there's no way that anybody can figure out what your password, was, well it might not leave people in the best situation and on the other hand if you want to keep your data really secure, you know it's kind of a balancing act always. So that's the simple way to change your user administrator, user or administrator password on a Mac. There is also something called key chain and key chain is the utility which manages passwords and authentications for the system at large including email and many other services. There are a lot of help topics on Apple.com so this one for example, OS10 Mountain lion, lock or unlock your key chain. This may be relevant if you are trying to reset your passwords. There are a lot of help topics about key chain which can sometime be a mysterious topic. So you may want to take a look at this if you've got questions. It's support.apple.com/kd/ph10698. Thanks for watching. I'm Skylar.
