How to Force Heat Into a Cold Family Room
- 1). Build a fire in your fireplace. Many homes have fireplaces near the front entryway or in a parlor-style room.
- 2). Place one standing fan about four feet from the front of the fireplace's hearth. Point the front of the fan in the direction of your family room.
- 3). Position another fan about six to eight feet in front of the other, also pointed in the direction of your family room. If the family room is around a corner, angle the fans so the first flows into the back of the second. The first fan draws heat from the fireplace and propels it into the second one, which in turn forces it into your family room.
- 4). Plug an extension cord into an electrical socket about halfway between the fireplace and your family room. Connect a power strip to the extension cord and plug in both fans.
