Server appliances are systems used for specific purposes within a computer network, and they require hardware and software. Server appliances can perform multiple functions, such as file storage, email and website service, in a single system. A backup server appliance consists of a computer and software program specifically dedicated to duplicating data within a computer network. Network administrators can use server backup appliances to restore lost or corrupted data across an entire network, including on-site and off-site locations.
