How to Build Pivoting Wood
- 1). Place the two 1-by-3-by-6-inch pine boards on top of each other. Drill a 1/4-inch hole through each board one inch from one end and centered. These boards will go together to create a pivoting wood assembly.
- 2). Place the 1/4-inch washer over the dowel. Apply wood glue to one end of the dowel and insert it into the hole you drilled in one of the boards. Make sure it is flush with the bottom of the board. Wipe off excess glue with a damp rag. Allow the glue to dry according to instructions on the glue container.
- 3). Insert the dowel into the hole in the other board. Push the top board down until it contacts the top of the washer. The washer should be between the two boards. This will allow the top board to pivot freely on the bottom board.
