    • 1). Shut down your laptop. Disconnect the AC power cable and any external devices. Close the LCD screen until it snaps. Place the laptop face down, and then position the computer with the front edge facing forward. Remove the battery pack from the top of the laptop's bottom casing.

    • 2). Locate the RAM compartment cover near the center of the laptop's bottom casing. Remove the Phillips-head screws securing the cover in place. Remove the cover from the laptop. There are usually two RAM modules inside the compartment.

    • 3). Remove the top RAM module first. Spread the white latches on each side of the module. Tilt the module at a 45-degree angle and pull the module out of its memory slot. Repeat this for each module removed.

    • 4). Align the notches on the new memory module with the notches inside the empty memory slot. Place the module inside the memory slot at a 45-degree angle. Press down on the module until the retaining latches snap it into place. Repeat this for each module installed.

    • 5). Replace the RAM compartment cover and its retaining screws. Replace the battery pack, flip the laptop over, and then reconnect all cables and devices to the laptop.
