    • 1). Shut the Pavilion ZV5000 down and close the screen. Disconnect all cables from the computer, turn it over and remove the battery from its compartment.

    • 2). Unscrew the Phillips-head screw from the narrow rectangular panel on the bottom of the Pavilion ZV5000. The screw stays inside the panel, even when loosened fully. Swing the panel up using the tabs on the side opposite the screw as pivot points, and remove it from the ZV5000 to uncover the first memory socket.

    • 3). Push the locking clips away from the Pavilion ZV5000 RAM module until it pops out of the compartment. Lift the module out of the slot and set it aside.

    • 4). Push the edge connectors of the new Pavilion ZV5000 RAM module into the empty slot while leaving the top of the module slightly higher than the locking clips. After the edge connectors are fully inserted, push the top of the module down until the locking clips snap around it.

    • 5). Replace the narrow panel over the first Pavilion ZV5000 RAM compartment and tighten the Phillips-head screw.

    • 6). Unscrew the three Phillips-head screws on the edge of the Pavilion ZV5000 directly above the top of the keyboard. Reserve the screws. Turn the Pavilion ZV5000 over and open the screen.

    • 7). Place a flat-head screwdriver under the depression on the right side of the plastic strip between the keyboard and screen. Lift up gently to disconnect the strip from the computer, and then pivot the back part of the strip toward the palm rest to remove it. You may feel several clicks and pops while doing this, which is normal. However, the strip is made of thin plastic; be careful not to bend it.

    • 8). Unscrew the four Phillips-head screws from the area that the plastic strip was removed from. Reserve the screws.

    • 9). Lift the Pavilion ZV5000 keyboard out of its cavity, and swing it forward and down until it is on top of the palm rest.

    • 10

Remove and replace the second Pavilion ZV5000 RAM module by repeating Steps 3 and 4.

    • 11

Lift the keyboard, and swing it back into the keyboard cavity. Replace the four Phillips-head screws.

    • 12

Push the plastic strip back into its original position. Close the Pavilion ZV5000 and turn it over.

Replace the three Phillips-head screws removed from the bottom of the computer.
