Core 2 Duo Compatibility
- Intel Core 2 Duos consist of two 64-bit cores housed on a single processor chip. They feature front-side bus speeds ranging from 800 to 1333 MHz. Every Core 2 Duo processor uses a maximum of 65 watts of power and uses Intel's 775-pin LGA775 socket interface, which measures 1.47 by 1.47 inches.
- Intel's line of Core 2 Duo processors works with any motherboard equipped with the LGA775 socket interface and a front-side bus ranging from 800 to 1333 MHz. Core 2 Duos require double data rate random access memory (DDR RAM) rated at the same speed as the processor's front-side bus.
- Intel Core 2 Duos support 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Microsoft's Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. These processors are compatible with single-threaded applications, but run faster when used with programs designed for dual-core processors.
