How to Jailbreak a First Generation 2.2 iPhone
- 1). Install the latest iTunes for iPhone from the Apple website. Once you're done, you will need to create a new file folder on your desktop. Right-click your desktop and scroll to "New" and then "Folder." Name folder "Pwnage," then download "Windows QuickPwn 2.2," "iPhone 2.2.1 ISPW," "3.9 Bootloader," and "4.6 Bootloader" into the new file folder.
- 2). Click the "QuickPwn.zip" file inside the "Pwnage" folder to unzip it. Click the "Pineapple" icon to launch "QuickPwn" on your desktop computer. A set-up window will appear. When you see the prompt, connect your iPhone through your iPhone USB to your computer and click the arrow. Click the "Browse" button to browse for firmware. In the "Pwnage" folder, choose the "2.1 firmware IPSW" file and then choose the "IPSW" file. Click the "Open" button to open the file. Once the firmware is verified, click the arrow to continue.
- 3). Customize your iPhone firmware. You have the option to choose "Cydia" or "Installer" to fully jailbreak your iPhone. Once you finish customizing your iPhone firmware, click the arrow to continue. Cydia is the most popular jailbreaking software. Upload your bootloader files that was downloaded in step one. Click the "Browse" button to browse "Bootloader 3.9" from your "Pwnage" file folder. Do the same for "Bootloader v4.6" file. Once you're done, click the arrow button.
- 4). Verify that your PC is connected to your iPhone and then click the arrow button. Wait for your iPhone to go into recovery mode. When in recovery mode, you will be given some instructions. Follow the instructions until your iPhone is in "DFU" mode. Once your iPhone is in "DFU" mode, "QuickPwn" will continue the jailbreaking process and your iPhone will be jailbroken. When your iPhone is jailbroken, your iPone will reboot and run "BootNeuter." Do not interrupt by pushing buttons or tampering with the phone. The iPhone will reboot itself. After it has rebooted, your iPhone is unlocked.
