    Taking Photographs

    • 1). Insert the battery and memory card. Open the battery compartment cover. Locate the cover on the bottom of the camera. Slide it out and lift it up. Insert the battery with the positive terminal on your right. Push it fully into the compartment. The securing latch clicks into place. Insert the memory card into the slot above the battery. Close the compartment. Switch the camera on by pressing the power button on top of the camera.

    • 2). Compose the shot. Hold the camera firmly with both hands. Press the mode button (marked "m") on the back of the camera. Use the rotary dial to highlight the camera icon located at the top of the circle. Press "OK." Look at the LCD screen. Ensure part of the subject you are shooting is located within the central rectangle. Press the shutter button half way down. The camera auto focuses on the subject. If the ambient light level is low, the automatic focus assist function may light momentarily.

    • 3). Take the shot. Press the shutter button fully down. The flash may fire. The camera records the photo to internal memory or to the memory card.

    • 4). Review the shot. Press the button marked with an icon of a camera and a right-facing triangle. The camera displays the last photo taken on the LCD screen. Turn the rotary dial to view photos previously taken.

    Shooting Movies

    • 1). Confirm that the battery and memory card are properly inserted into the camera. Press the power button on top of the camera to turn it on.

    • 2). Compose the scene. Hold the camera firmly with both hands. Press the mode button (marked "m") on the back of the camera. Use the rotary dial to highlight the movie camera icon located on the left of the circle. Press "OK." Look at the LCD screen. The camera displays the total recording time available. Ensure part of the subject you are shooting is located within the central rectangle.

    • 3). Shoot the movie. Press the shutter button fully down then release it. The camera begins recording. A progress bar shows how much memory remains. Press the shutter button fully down to stop recording. The camera automatically stops recording if storage space runs out.

    Setting Scene Mode

    • 1). Turn on the camera and ensure the battery and memory card are correctly inserted.

    • 2). Set the shooting mode. Press the mode button (marked "m") on the back of the camera. Rotate the dial to highlight "SCENE." Press "OK." Press the "MENU" button on the back of the camera. The LCD screen displays a grid of icons. Rotate the dial to select the scene required. Press "OK."

    • 3). Compose the shot. Press the shutter button half way down to allow the camera to auto focus on the subject.

    • 4). Take the shot by pressing the shutter button fully down.
