How to Troubleshoot Shrinky Dink for Ink Jet Priners
- 1). Look at your package of Shrinky Dink plastic. Check to see if you are using the type of Shrinky Dink that is designed specifically for ink-jet printers. Printer ink will not adhere to untreated Shrinky Dink sheets.
- 2). Look at your printer, checking specifically for the brand of printer that you are using. Shrinky Dink ink-jet sheets work best with HP, Canon and Lexmark printers. If you have an Epson printer, change printers or discontinue the project, because this brand does not generate good results on ink-jet Shrinky Dink plastic.
- 3). Open the printer housing to verify that you are using an ink-jet printer. Ink-jet printers are usually smaller machines and will have small ink cartridges that are visible in slots under the printer housing. If you are using a laser printer, you will see a large toner cartridge and, usually, several larger rollers. Discontinue using ink-jet Shrinky Dink sheets in a laser printer. Laser printers generate heat which can cause undesirable results.
