    • 1). Set the battery inside the battery holder. Attach the positive lead on the battery case onto one end of the metal strip.

    • 2). Set the bulb into the socket or bulb holder.

    • 3). Connect the other end of the metal strip to the positive wire from the bulb holder.

    • 4). Connect the negative wire from the bulb to the battery to complete the circuit. Because the metal strip is a conductor, the bulb will light up, indicating that electrical current is flowing through the circuit.

    • 5). Experiment with other conductors and insulators. For instance, replace the metal strip with a rubber band. This will cause the light to go out because rubber is an insulator. Test different types of materials to determine conductivity.
