- 1). Open the computer case by unscrewing the access door from the back of the computer. You also have to push release buttons on the case or by pushing a release lever.
- 2). Disconnect the hard drive by pulling the cables off of the drive. Pay attention to how the cables are connected so that you can reconnect them in the XP computer.
- 3). Open the computer case on the new XP computer. Find an open bay at the front of the computer and screw in the hard drive. Connect the hard drive cables from the new computer to the old hard drive. The new computer should have extra power cables. You may need to purchase an extra data cable and connect it to the motherboard and then the additional hard drive.
