Core 2 Quad CPU Performance
- As a quad-core processor, the Core 2 Quad has twice the processing power of its dual-core (Core 2 Duo) siblings, and four times the power of its single-core (Core 2 Solo) counterparts. Its processing speed ranges from 2.33 to 3 GHz.
- The front-side bus (FSB) speed is the rate at which the processor connects with the PC's motherboard. Some Core 2 Quad CPUs have FSB speeds of 1,066 MHz, although most are as fast as 1,333 MHz.
- The Core 2 Quad's power consumption is measured in watts (W). The low-consuming "S" versions have a maximum power consumption of 65W. The mid-range Quads possess a rating of 95W while the Q6700 and Q6600, the largest Core 2 Quad chips (65 nanometers compared to the 45 nanometers of the others) consume up to 105W.
