How to Improve Wireless Connections
- 1). Place you router in the center of your home. If you have the router placed on one end of your home, the signal may be weak on the other side of the house. Also, keep the router away from walls or large metal objects as they can interfere with the signal.
- 2). Switch your antenna. If you need to place the router near one side of the house, replace the antenna with a high-gain antenna that focuses the signal in one direction -- just make sure that the signal is emitting away from the wall.
- 3). Install a wireless repeater to your network. This device takes the signal emitted from your router and boosts it in areas where the router signal is weak.
- 4). Change your home's cordless phones. If the radio frequency used by the phones is too close to the frequency used by the router, it can interfere with the router signal.
- 5). Check your computer to make sure that your driver is updated. The driver is the device located in your computer that connects you to the computer network. Also, make sure that your router is updated. The manufacturers provide these updates free to their customers.
