How to Alter a Primer Cap

    • 1). Chop the stem off the underside of a male cap using a knife. Carefully trim away any remainder of the stem.

    • 2). Place the cap bottom-side-up in the vice.

    • 3). Drill into the hole until the bottom of the hole is approximately even with the bottom of the dot on the front of the cap. Take care not to drill too far; failing to go deep enough is preferable to going too deep, which will ruin the cap.

    • 4). Remove the plastic you have drilled out, and slip the cap onto the stem on a paint can. Test the cap on scrap wood or cardboard.
