The Bottom Line

If you've been reading my blog for a while then you know that I love pretty much anything that's DBZ. This isn't one of my favorites - the good guys get whooped just a little more than they should and although we all know who will ultimately win, I found myself waiting for that big "moment" when all the super saiyan good guy power would really kick in. All in all though, its classic DBZ with plenty of battle scenes and if you're a devoted fan, you'll want to add this one to your collection.

Guide Review - Dragon Ball Z Movie 8: Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan

A mysterious man named Paragas arrives on Earth and asks Vegeta to be the new King of the planet Vegeta. Paragas is a saiyan and tells Vegeta that the legendary super saiyan has attacked the Southern Galaxy and now threatens the Northern worlds as well.

Vegeta agrees to go and Gohan, Kryllin, Trunks, Oolong and Roshi go too. At the same time, King Kai visits Goku and tells him about the Legendary Super Saiyan but instead of following the others, Goku travels to the Southern Galaxy to track the Saiyan himself. He follows the trail to the planet Vegeta where Vegeta and Paragas' son Broly have just returned from another planet.

No one can find the Legendary Super Saiyan but when Broly sees Goku he goes mental.

His father tries to hold him back with telepathic powers but Broly finally breaks free and attacks Goku while he's sleeping. Its only then that everyone figures out that Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyan and that the entire charade was Paragas' doing to take over the Northern Galaxy.

As everyone fights Broly, Picolo arrives with senzu beans in hand to heal the injured and the fight continues.

There is a bit of a twist at the end but I've seen better battles from Goku and Vegeta. Ultimately though, its worth the hour and change to spend watching.
