    • 1). Identify the Adele by its living environment and green foliage. It blooms at night and the blossoms are various sizes. This plant produces blooms that are shades of reds and yellows. Each plant is supported on its own leaf stalk (petiole). It grows up to 2 feet wide.

    • 2). Plant the Adele in a pond that is in full sun and has a pH of 7 to 8.5. This is a plant that you will not have to water, as it lives in water. If you are planting in a natural pond, be sure to pick a pond that will not dry out. If you are planting it in a man-made pond in your backyard, keep the pH correct, and be sure the pond stays filled.

    • 3). Protect the Adele from slugs and snails. These pests are mollusks and are heavy feeders. They will eat anything that is not woody and doesn’t have a strong scent. They like dark, moist places and will under things left at the edge of the pond including pots, tarps and, if the area is mulched, will live under the mulch.

    • 4). Protect the Adele from pests such as aphids by keeping weeds under control. If needed, you can use an insecticide, but if you have fish in the pond, it should be an organic insecticide that will not harm the fish. If you have to use an insecticide, check with your local fish shop to be sure the product you choose is not harmful to the fish.

    • 5). Protect the Adele from fungi. This plant is prone to leaf spots. Leaf spots are caused by bacteria and show up as brown or black spots or patches. Remove infected leaves. A fungicide can be used, but again, be cautious if you have fish in the pond. Check with the local fish shop to be sure the product you choose is safe for the type of fish you have.
