How to Treat a Wooden Kitchen
- 1). Seal new wood cabinets and trim located in the kitchen with a water resistant wood finish. This is a good way to prevent water damage. It is not foolproof, however, and you should always clean up spills as soon as possible.
- 2). Put hot pots and pans on trivets or pot holders. This will keep the wood from getting burned as well as scratched.
- 3). Use a superfine sandpaper to remove surface scratches and stains. Reapply the finish when you're done if there is one. If the sandpaper doesn't work on the stain, try lemon juice. In the case of purple grape juice or red wine, use white wine to remove the stain.
- 4). Clean with a damp rag of soap and water. Dry off with a clean rag immediately so that moisture doesn't sit on the wood.
