    • 1). Plug in the Barista machine and pour water into the water tank. Set a coffee cup on the drip plate and press "Brew" to allow approximately four ounces of water to flow through the system and into the cup, which will prime the machine for use.

    • 2). Press "Brew" to stop the water flow. Discard the water. Refill the water tank with cold water.

    • 3). Close the steam valve knob and set a cup or shot glass on the drip plate. Open the coffee filter basket and place finely ground coffee into the filter. The manufacturer recommends 1-1/2-tbsp. of ground coffee for a single shot of espresso and three tbsp. of ground coffee for a double shot of espresso. Gently shake the filter to distribute the coffee and wipe any grounds from the edge of the filter.

    • 4). Push the filter in by turning the handle to the right. Press the "Brew" button and wait for the coffee to brew into the cup or glass. Press "Brew" again to stop when the coffee is finished. Remove the glass or mug from the drip plate.

    • 5). Press the "Steam" button if frothed milk is desired. Push the steam wand off to one side, using a damp cloth to prevent burns. Turn the steam valve knob to "Open" to release any excess water and then close it again. Fill a metal pitcher with cold milk and hold it under the tip of the steam wand. Open the steam valve knob and move the pitcher up and down while keeping the nozzle submerged at all times. Turn off the steam valve knob and carefully remove the pitcher when the milk is at the desired foam state.
