Mix 1 tbsp. bleach in a bucket with 1 gallon of hot water. Scrub the butcher block countertop with the diluted bleach solution to remove the last traces of stains and kill any bacteria in the wood. Allow the bleach solution to remain on the countertop for three to five minutes. Rinse it off with a damp cloth and dry the surface. Let the countertop air dry overnight. - 4). Rub mineral oil into the butcher block countertop surface to season the wood and prevent stains from being easily absorbed.
