    • 1). Sweep away any dirt on the hardwood floor using a broom. Use a dust mop to remove any dust lingering on the floor.

    • 2). Mix 1 cup distilled white vinegar with 1 cup warm water, and pour into a bucket.

    • 3). Dip a clean cloth into the vinegar and water mixture, and wring out the excess fluid so the cloth is damp.

    • 4). Scrub the affected area of the floor with the damp cloth. You may need to dip the cloth back into the vinegar and water solution to use again until the furniture polish is completely gone.

    • 5). Dry the floor with a clean towel to remove any moisture, eliminating the chance of water spots forming.
